The Map Giver, who bore a resemblance with a celebrated Terran performer, was enslaved by the Spider Aliens, a race of blood-thirsty extraterrestrial arachnoids, sometime in 1977 AD, when, after his death, they collected his body and forced him to work for them in their mines.
When the Map Giver learned about the Manowar Class armor, he plotted to acquire it in the hope that he could use it to escape, but, as the years wore on he lost his vitality and was forced to wait for when he could impart his knowledge on a warrior brave enough to kill his captors.
While on work detail on asteroid LZ15, a Spider Alien refueling station, the Map Giver met Aric Dacia, a spirited warrior who he believed was as tough as he used to be who might be able to fight his way to the aliens’ ultimate weapon. Hopeful that the young Visigoth was brave enough to kill the aliens, the Map Giver asked him if he was willing and Aric told him to show him the way.
Weeks later aboard a Spider Alien Transport Vessel in Earth orbit, the Map Giver told Aric that, after years in the aliens’ servitude, he had learned the layout of the mothership. As he carved a map on Aric’s hand with a bone, the Map Giver warned him that the aliens kept their ultimate weapon in a heavily guarded room and told him that, when he found it, he just had to pull the control ring from its chest plate. After Aric acquired the Manowar Class Armor, he destroyed the vessel and the Map Giver died in the blast.
